Wizarding World – The making of Harry Potter

“Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean it is not real?”

Wizarding World - The making of Harry Potter

This May 2018 I visited the Warner Bros. Studios Harry Potter in London. It has been absolutely impressive.

Booking tickets

We booked our tickets round about 3 months earlier ( £41/pp), as soon as we knew when we are visiting London. HERE you can book Your tickets easily and check the availability in the provided calendar.

Getting to Harry

You can reach the Studios within 1 hour from London city centre (depending on your starting point). From Euston, the “Mid Westlands Train” direction to Milton Keynes Central needs only 15 minutes to Watford Junction. Oyster cards are valid between London Euston and Watford Junction. From there, regular shuttle buses run every 20 min to the Studio Tour with a journey time of around 15 minutes.  The shuttle Bus costs £2,50 both ways. (Price is not included in the studio ticket and neither can be paid by Oyster).

Arrival

Harry Potter Studios - London

First of all, the infant of the entrance are some cool photo-spots with some chess figures and walls. (See the picture on the right side)

You can pick up your tickets next to the entrance.  At the ticket machines, you might be even faster. Even. though you arrived before your scheduled time, you are allowed to enter the Tour.

Audio Guide – your own Marauder’s Map

Totally worth it! Meanwhile, you walk through the various set-stations in the studios, the guide explains what you are actually seeing and standing in front. It has different functions including a studio map in the look and feel of the Marauder’s Map. In addition to that, the guide shares so much background knowledge of Harry Potter with you. It’s up to you, how deep you are digging for more info.

Harry Potter Studios

As already has been mentioned, the studios are impressive and a must-see for every Harry Potter fan. Some scenes, such as the boys’ dorm or the Griffendoors common room, Snape’s potion classrooms, Dumbledore’s office, the forbidden forest, and so much more are still visible from the shootings. In addition to that, there are exhibited requisites e.g. the personalised wands, clothes, paintings (fat lady etc.), quidditch equipment and so on. The effort behind the production is gigantic. After visiting the studios and gaining extra knowledge you will watch the movies through different eyes. It’s even more exciting, to discover the movies on a new level.

That’s it – for now. You should better find out by yourself, what is there to discover – mischief managed
